I have just incountered a problem with my S-10, and am looking to see if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows anyone that had a similar problem. I have not had the truck long and have been doing a little hear and there but need it to be more road worthy now and have started driving it longer distances, after I drive for about 20min the truck will start what sounds like a lean miss fire and acts as if it is not recieving enough full over about 1200rpm. I am figuring that I have either a full pump issue or an issue with trash in the fuel lines somewhere that isn't noticable upon first start up, but in the last week it has become an issue that is present upon first start up also. Has anyone else had this problem or able to narrow this down a little further from their experiences. Thanks

I've had a coil pack go bad under load. It was fine during idle and light loads, but anything else would kill the coil. Check your fuel pressure, compression, etc

Prolly not junk in the lines if it consistently starts out fine and loses power after 20 min. My initial thought is fuel pump but you'd have to check your fuel pressure to be sure.

Possibly a clogged catalytic converter, once they get hot they love to stop up and cause them to run shitty...

suspect faulty O2 sensor as well. not all problems create an engine code, might want to get your hands on a code reader... |

Thanks, and yeah just because the check engine light isn't on, doesn't mean there isn't a code being thrown.

A bad cat wouldn't cause a missfire, if it has one. Most cheap scanners won't tell you if it is past or current, which can cause you to chase ends and waste time.

there is no cat on the truck, I feel more like the first post of the coil was most accurate ... it doesn't misfire at idle or in first gear but every gear above that because of the load ... i can go full throttle at idle no matter how long it has been running so the problem is apparently caused due to load ... thanks for the help ... i'm pulling the coil and going to check the resistance on the primary and secondary coils this week ....
